About the play:

As one actor wryly observes in the opening scene, “A cocktail party at Mimi’s is never just a cocktail party.” What will it be this year? Extravagant, booming fireworks? Tricycle-riding chimpanzees? Oh, nothing that tame: Mimi plans her revenge on a banker who bricked up her garage entrance last New Year’s Eve as a practical joke; she couldn’t get her car out for days. But last minute additions to the guest list suggest more inviting victims: The parents of the very unsuitable young man to whom her daughter has become engaged. Mimi’s daughter hatches a counter-plot. As both plots fall victim of mistaken identities, events slide into glorious confusion. Merriment and mayhem reign almost until the final curtain. This is a fine, family comedy from the pen of Mary Chase, the playwright who gave us Harvey, which we presented in 2016.
