The question of “What do you believe” is an excellent one when attending church. Many times, it is a question that some people have trouble putting words to. Here is a brief overview of what Lutherans believe.
The Basics
Lutherans are Christians who believe in the Word of God, his Son Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. We believe that Jesus Christ was sent to earth as the ultimate sacrifice for our sins. Jesus overcame death, was raised from the dead, and ascended into heaven.
We also follow the teachings of Martin Luther, who started the Protestant Reformation back in 1517 with his challenge of some of the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church. Luther’s teachings center on the fact that we are saved by the grace of God alone, through faith alone, on account of Christ alone.
